I've been working on both bikes nearly every night this week. The bopchop is only really awaiting an engine, which is making good progress. And the new bike has made a few small steps forward in that I've had the bearing support plate cut from my CAD file, and it fits perfectly - much to my relief. The sprocket bearing holder that bolts to it also fits, but can't be finished until i have the sprocket here to get dimensions from.
It's looking like i should be able to at least run the new engine at the Thunderball. I was going to be short of a top end oiler but thanks to comp bike racer Nick "Shaggy" Daniels I'll have one as he was kind enough to lend me his for this event.
On Wednesday i checked the deck height on the new block and pistons and bought an 1mm thick aluminium base gasket/spacer to bring the pistons flush with the top of the block. That arrived yesterday and i fitted it earlier this evening, despite it being for a 1500 kit it still needed quite a lot of relieving to fit round the sleeves. The barrels went on too, which just leaves tomorrows task of fitting the power rings, head gasket and getting the head itself back on, degreeing the cams and checking the valves don't hit anything.
After getting the engine fitted it won't leave many opportunities before Thursday to get the bike out and try starting it. The first chance i get might well be at the track.
