Alcoholic tendencies

I now have in my possession the Schnitz progressive nitrous controller i bought (eBay special), it's a nice bit of kit housed in a tough aluminum case. It would look at home bolted to the front of my PC!
Anyway, it powers up and seems in good condition other than a dial missing.
Tomorrow i will fit it, which should be easy as, thanks to the internet i was able to download the manual for it last week, so i have all the wiring in place already. All thats required is a bracket under the seat to hold it. It does recommend that it's placed as far away as possible from sources of RFI such as ignitions and wiring for coils etc. How far away, far away is, i do not know so i'll just have to hope that under the seat is far enough!

Other events this week involve my brain melting trying to find information about running the bike on methanol. I have made some progress though, and have spoken to some helpful people regarding this.
It seems that currently there is nobody running methanol with carbs, there are fuel injection and turbo and even supercharged methanol bikes but none using carbs and nitrous.
This is when i started to think there may be a reason!

Many people have given me the same information, and it involves the inability of the float valve to flow enough fuel. both Lectron and mikuni have the same problem. FBG have offered to modify some lectrons for methanol use but will offer NO guarantees. So i've been contacting people who build carbs for speedway and grasstrack outfits hoping to find out what they use ... carbs such as the FRJ or dellorto PHBE38 are specially designed for Methanol.
But firstly i will see what size float valves are in my Smoothbores and find out what the largest ones i can install are, 4 seems to be the ideal.

The fuel solenoid in the nitrous kit will also be no good if i use methanol as the standard NOS one is not methanol proof, i could use a petroleum based race fuel in the kit, but there are solenoids available designed for methanol. NOS do one, and the Wizards of NOS standard one is ok, as is the Dynotune one. My fuel pump should also be ok too so long as it's flushed out afterwards, which i will be doing anyway.
