On the case

The cellar is looking rather full at the moment, there are bits of bike everywhere, the frame is bare so all the parts for it are piled up, plus ive stripped 2 engines in the past week - one is a standard GSX engine thats donating it's cases to the cause, and the other my main engine with cracked cases.
The new cases have been cleaned and de-studded ready for modifications that need to be made to fit the 1500 barrels, and trapdoor mods for the gearbox. Plus i've modified 3 of the 4 engine mounting holes by threading them with an M12 tap. After looking at a few other bikes i noticed that seems to be a common way of fastening the engine in, plus it's bound to make engine removal quicker and easier as there are no tricky fasteners (like the bottom mounts which use teardrop shaped nuts that are a pain to get lined up).
I've thrown 2 sets of engine mounting brackets away too as i'm making new and improved versions that should be stronger. The front mounts have been tweaked too, the holes were slightly too big for the bolts so i've cut the holes a bit bigger and made up inserts to reduce the size. The lower and back mounts will be water cut when i find some thick enough ally and whenever i get chance to call round with the design.

As for the thoughts on why the cases have cracked ..... there are a couple of ideas, and hopefully it will become more apparent this weekend. But neither of them now concern the frame, which may well get a reprieve!
