I tried the new fuel pump at the weekend but it didn't work. The pump looks similar to the VFR750 one but is of a completely different type. Unfortunately the pressure is once again too high for the carbs and they flood. It didn't cost much and the chances are i'll get back what i paid for it on eBay.
After a bit more hunting i found a VFR750 pump for sale, so i have bought it and just need to test it before fitting it to the bike.
There are only one or 2 small jobs left to do on the bike now. One of them i've been trying to sort out is a catch can for the engine breather. The can needs to hold 550ml, i have seen fizzy drinks bottles used on some bikes, but i'm struggling to find somewhere to put one, especially in an upright position. But i have a plan to use the recess in the engine casings where the starter motor used to be as a catch can. It holds well over 550ml and has a cover that can be sealed with silicone fairly easily. All i need to do is make a hole so that it can still work as a breather and silicone up the drain hole in the bottom so it doesn't leak.
I'm going to try and get to a RWYB on the 8th March at Santa pod and get my licensing passes done. It's the last chance i'll get to do it before Easter ..... oh and i'm officially on the Easter entry list now!
I found some of my old Santa pod pictures yesterday so scanned them to my computer. By my reckoning they were taken in 1994, here's a few of them.
