An alternative to a fuel tap is a fuel pump, i had tried the NOS pump but the carbs flooded under the pressure. The options were to try a fuel regulator or find a lower pressure pump. My VFR750 has a fuel pump so i took the carbs and hooked them up to it, and amazingly they didn't flood.
So once again i went hunting on ebay and found a similar pump for a few ££. I will try it later in the week to make sure it's ok before finding a suitable place for it on the bike.
With my entry for the Easter Thunderball sent off i have been busy sorting out stuff to take, a trailer tent and awning have been purchased, a significant upgrade from my existing tent. The awning is big enough for the bike and tools and the trailer has a cooker, sink and mains hookup!
But to stuff everything up, the ACU have only gone and changed the rules. They finally got around to releasing the 2008 rulebook, in there it says that on a clubman license such as mine i can only ride category 1 machines. Basically thats 9.50 bike and 10.50 bike, both require bikes with working lights and treaded tyres....
To ride category 2 bikes, such as mine for instance! i must have a national license. And how do i get a national license? well.... it doesn't say. But after a few calls to the ACU it turns out i must complete a set of tasks to show that i can ride it and i'm not likely to injure myself or others. But to do the tasks i will either have to do them when i go to the Easter event and forfeit entering the competition, or get to a Run What You Brung day between now and easter and complete the tasks there and get written verification of competence from the clerk of the course. I then send everything off to the ACU and hope that i get a national license back before easter.
