The myth of the Frankenstein monster returns to its literary roots in this tale of a scientist's monstrous attempt to play God. This story is the archetype for many subsequent tales of the mad scientist and his creatures with the monster of misguided science eventually tormenting its creator.
The weather was nice today, so i after a short deliberation i decided i would take my
creation outside and see if the application of some electricity could awaken it from it's long rest.
Just getting it out from the cellar is quite a task, but with some help we pushed it up the scaffold planks and onto the driveway. I filled the carbs with fuel and, with my brother controlling the throttle and choke i switched the ignition on and cranked it over with the offboard starter.
It needed almost no cranking at all, it had barely turned over and it cracked into life!!!
My plan was to video this for the Blog but unfortunately my video camera battery was flat. We ran it only for a few seconds then shut it off to check that oil was reaching the cylinder head oil tunnels. A good job we did as they were bone dry.
I think something is wrong with the oil pressure switch or the cover as there is oil leaking from it yet there is no oil getting beyond that point.
I will take it off tomorrow and see what's going on. Plus one of the carbs is flooding so i will have have to take them off for an inspection.
When i first bought the bike and got it home i fired it up on the street outside, it didn't run or rev particularly well and it was monster loud, so loud it made the kids on the street go indoors. And that was with the standard 1100 engine.
But this time i was amazed how quiet it was. When i say quiet.... maybe thats not the right word, but it wasn't what it used to be. It ran smooth and more .... refined. But definitely not as monstrous. A tuned engine is a smooth engine!
