The bike with no name

A mixed bag of results from the weekends race at Shakespeare County Raceway. The first outing for the new bike (with no name) started off with a couple of no nitrous observed runs which went ok, the bike drifted a little to the left on both runs but everyone seemed to have the same issue. On the next run however it went right so it doesn't look like it has a tendency to go one way in particular.
The rest of the runs we had trouble with the bike bogging off the line. It would leave, then die a death. When i rolled the throttle off slightly it would take off once again and be ok for the rest of the run. Convinced it was something to do with the nitrous coming on either too rich or too lean, i made adjustments to the progressive controller to try and eliminate the problem. However no matter what i tried it kept doing it. Investigations into the cause are continuing!

The best time for the whole weekend was a very disappointing 9.2 at 149mph.

In eliminations we were more than fortunate to take the first round win against Stu Crane on his new Funny bike. In the race my bike bogged as usual whilst Stu disappeared into the future, my bike recovered as but a misfire had popped a couple of the exhaust headers off and the bike didn't sound well so I'd started to back off. At that point i think I'd completely forgotten it was a race but noticed Stu in the other lane had slowed down a lot and was desperately trying to engage another gear by hand. Seizing the opportunity i pinned it and the bike went onto the nitrous and by a few feet i just managed to get past him before the finish. Jammy basically!

The next round i had Steve French on his funny bike (he moved into comp bike due to him being the only entry in funny bike) Steve just disappeared off the line and I never even caught sight of him again.
The final would have been Steve vs Dave Peters but rain stopped that race ever taking place.

I'm disappointed with the times from the weekend but pleased that the frame and all the other bits appear to work well. Nothing broke and nothing but a small piece of foam fell off in 7 trips down the strip and the extra bumpy shutdown area.

Sam will no doubt update her Photobucket page later, with shots from the weekend.
Here's a few more in the meantime:

James who normally rides our towbike defected to the Leamon Brothers race team due to their lack of crew. As it turns out he quite enjoyed being chief starter.

The defecting thing must have been catching as Stuart also had a go - he loaned himself and the starter cart to the
Dave Peters team when their starter let them down in qualifying.
