The NOS twins

I can't remember how many times i've messed with the fuel system on both dragbikes, it seems to be a perpetual problem! It's nearly always been run with 2 fuel pumps - one for the nitrous side and one to feed the carbs. The reason gravity feed or a pressurised tank hasn't been used is it's difficult to get a fuel tap in a convenient place as per the ACU rulebook. The carb side used a pulse type pump off a VFR750, it needs regulating too or the Lectrons will flood 1 - 1.5psi is the limit.

A couple of weeks ago i rigged up a test system to measure how much fuel the VFR pump with regulator and fuel filter could actually pump in 8 seconds. The results showed a fairly poor 220-250ml. Without the regulator and filters it went up a bit to 280-300ml.
I tried a NOS fuel pump instead, and it would easily pump 330ml without the reg and 280-300 with.
The bike uses approx 800 -1000ml in a run (warmup, burnout and run) so 220ml seemed a bit marginal for supplying the carbs properly during the run itself. The float bowls were always full after a run but i don't turn the pump off till partway - or further down the shutdown area.
So i decided to use a spare NOS pump to replace the VFR one, and I've changed the cheap regulator for a better one that flows more. The single filter has been dumped too in favour of individual ones for each carb hose.
A couple of hours were spent today making up a new distribution block which is fed with bigger bore hoses. In fact all the hoses and fitting from the tank onwards have been replaced with 10mm ones.

There are only 2 weeks to go to the next race at Shakespeare county raceway. As yet the engine and frame are still in pieces. The bottom end is together at least - i made a few changes to the clutch which should make a difference and help with the plainly rubbish 60ft times it keep running regardless of the setting.
Next weekend i have 3 days off so that's my chance to get the top end back together, the engine in and all the plumbing etc finished.
The plan is to ride it real slow and try not to break it. Instead we can revel in the novelty of completing an event, and perhaps even go home with a bike that still runs and doesn't require the attention of Mr Upperton once again!
