Expensive mistakes

After the excitement of having the rear wheel cut last week, there's now some doubt over it and it looks like I'll have to have another made. I didn't realize the unsuitability of the material, and it was also pointed out by a friend that there are sharp corners on the outside of the spokes that could promote cracking. A redesign with radiused spokes has already happened but I'll now need a 330mm x 330mm slab of 6082 aluminium to cut it out of. Chances are it'll have to wait till more money is available, and I'll use the existing one for mock up purposes only.

I'm kinda hoping that's the end of wasting money and that the rest of the work that's been happening will be satisfactory. Yesterday i took a piece of ally and a CAD drawing of the axle adjuster blocks into K Cut. I collected them today and made a start on cutting the steel channels that hold them. They look good but i can't finish them properly until a new belt arrives for the lathe.
