That's all folks

In a way i'm glad that the 2009 season is over, travelling down to the pod and Shakey so many times in the past 2 months is not only expensive but become a bit tiring. We did think about running one last time at the Flame and Thunder show but instead decided to try and let funds recuperate in readiness for the expense of trying to put the new chassis together.

The Extreme bike event then was a mixed bag. Being bikes only the atmosphere was great, but it was held a month too late, the weather being just a tad too cold and damp for a perfect weekend racing recipe.
On both days the racing didn't start till later in the morning, the track wasn't as good as it had been at the last event either. Most people had problems with wheelspin, i found the bike moved either left or right when spinning and on the first qualifying run i had to back the throttle off to stop it crossing the line.
The second run was loose but straighter and we managed an 8.4 which qualified us in 5th place. because i knew the track was scold I'd backed off the nitrous down to 40% start and then 35% start. For the 3rd run i went back to 50% and it seemed to work, it just hits the tyre harder and seems to make it transfer weight quicker and makes it 'hook up'. It felt much quicker but was still drifting towards the centreline, i stayed on the throttle and it started to come back as i leaned but the bike started to get a bit 'flappety' and i decided it was time to get off the throttle and hold on. It calmed down pretty much immediately but the run was a pretty naff 8.9.
On raceday it all went a bit pete tong, it should have been a really good race as i was against Phil Leamon who runs times slightly faster than my own, but it would have been close. I was just about to go into stage and was told to shut down. A fuel line clip had broken and fuel was leaking out everywhere. In the other lane, Phil Leamon had problems too and so neither of us made it down the track.

Sam has now updated her Photobucket page with lots of shots from the weekend.
I'll hopefully have a few video clips to upload over the next few days, thanks to Dennis of the Leamon Bros comp bike team. He has compiled a video of bike runs over the season and handed me a copy. Cheers Dennis.
