The bopchop is coming back together at last, an extreme lack of funds this month meant some especially shrewd eBaying for extra cheap parts, but the engine is sealed up, back in the frame and finished.
One bargain buy was a genuine Suzuki cam cover gasket and cylinder base gasket, i was amazed at the quality compared to the aftermarket stuff, and they were cheaper too. If only a plentiful supply were available at the same cost.
I fitted the exhaust i bought off eBay too, it's a perfect fit and possibly gives a touch more ground clearance than the previous one. After attacking it with polishing mops it looks a lot better than it did, it only requires the lambda boss welding on to complete it.
I'm unsure if my idea of using the gear indicator switch to re-enable the shift kill will work. The switch doesn't seem to reliably connect and appears to only switch once the lever has started to move for the change into 4th. That would be too late for it to work, so I'll have to either slot the holes to allow adjustment, or I've spotted an MRE version built for the same task on eBay US, so I'll keep an eye on that.
All thats left now are the usual multitude of small jobs, tidying and triple checking wiring, setting timing, checking the lambda logger works ok and that it communicates with the nitrous controller. Some time in the coming weeks it can reemerge from its underground winter hibernation and be fired up and get the timing set and carbs balanced.
Easter thunderball entry forms should be available soon to so it'll soon be the race season again!
