I found a few more pictures of the bike from last weekend on various websites. Many thanks to Stephen at Eclipse Photos for getting back to me with several shots, that I've featured in this post.
I've not had a great deal to do since returning from the Springspeed event. The engine oil has been dropped and all the batteries have gone on charge. The starter cart batteries were particularly flat, i think it's because there were one or two occasions when the motor got stuck on, wasting valuable leccy. It's had a habit recently of not turning off after it's started the bike. I think it's because it doesn't like 24volts running through it and the copper solenoid contacts weld themselves firmly together. A tap with a hammer frees them but it's not an ideal situation. Not sure what to do about it but i do need some method of cutting the power if it does stick other than ripping a battery terminal off. Fork lift truck charger connectors should be up to the job so i'll try and find some.
The front brake has been receiving some attention too, it binds more than it should and I've noticed the disk making a clicking noise. Upon further inspection it seems the caliper is misaligned slightly and is forcing the disk, which floats on loose bobbins, to one side, and it's that thats clicking.
I spent a couple of hours pumping the pistons out and cleaning them up as best as possible, then refitting the caliper and trying a variety of shims to get it aligned as best as possible. It's not perfect but it's a lot better.
A friend has given me a complete upside down TZR front end, and the measurements look good so far. So when i get chance i'll see how well it's likely to fit.
All thats left now is to sit out the 6 weeks or so to the next race and try and decide how big the next set of nitrous jets are going to be .....
