With the bike all but ready now i've been able to think about actually going racing. We have a van to transport the bike and starter cart, tools fuel, etc but with most races being a 2, 3 or even 4 day event i was thinking somewhere comfortable to spend the time would be a good idea so ive bought a luxurious velvetine Winnebago
......not!
I'll be living in my tent! However i will need an awning of some sorts to park the bike in if it rains and give me somewhere to work on it.
I'll also need a selection of parts, especially setup type parts like rev limiter chips.
So i'm looking out for these as there's only a couple of months to go. The rev limiter chips are expensive for what they are, i wish i knew enough about electronics to make my own as i bet they can be made for a few pence. MSD do make a variable plug in module that gives a range of rpm limits so i'm trying to find one of those for now.
Theres a lot of stuff regarding the setup that i don't know about and will have to work out, Tyre pressures (6-10psi) launch rpm (5000rpm upwards) clutch springs (start with standard) ive been emailing people for advice, so i have a good baseline to start from. Roger Upperton among others has been very helpful once again, providing me with info.
On a different note, I came across the website of UEM Supertwin rider Charley Karling, not only does he have a good website (and motorcycle!) but he has a couple of good quality files available to download. With his permission i've borrowed them and they can be heard here and viewed here:
