After a discussion about determining the clockwise orientation of the anti-clockwise rotational dimention with the people in the scrapyard, i left with another starter motor. Bigger, more powerful, and defiantly more going in the right directional than the last.
From what the scrapyard junkies were saying they could only think of one car that had a starter motor that spun the way my last one did and that was the Hillman Imp!
I had to make a few tweaks to the handle i made for the last one, but it fits surprisingly well. I decided to add a restraint to the output shaft to stop the solenoid plunging the shaft outward when you power it on. This works perfectly. I gave the starter a test using one battery but i wouldn't turn the engine over, so i tried with 2 and it still wouldn't. One of my batteries is a bit low on voltage so i'll put it on charge and try again soon.
