Diving in - Head first

New lathe has taken a bit of getting used to but i'm starting to get a feel for it at last. The 'feel' is a big part of a lathe, it's akin to 'handling' on a bike. It's no one thing in particular, but once you know how it feels you make less mistakes and get where you want, without riding off the road completely and into a ditch.
The headstock tube is now mostly complete, it'll need some more metal removing inside to lose some weight but bearing recesses are finished and the tube - with bearings can now be fitted into the jig. Which doesn't exist.
So, the next task which is currently underway is modifying the bopchops frame jig for the new one.
It's gone surprisingly rusty but should still be fine. The jig isn't there to stop things moving whilst welding, so it doesn't need to be mega strong. It's simply a set of straight edges to work from and lay out the frame tubes until they are strong enough to support themselves. I really need to add some legs to it and get it off the floor, that's the next job i reckon.
