Coming up next

The next round in the ACU season is the Summer Nationals at Santa Pod in 2 weeks time - Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th of June. In the past we've also attended the test and tune day the Friday before the race but this year it looks like we won't bother.
The entry list for this event is an improvement over the last two rounds - there are 9 entries so far. Unusually there is no entry from Phil Leamon, I've not heard what's happened to him hopefully he will make a late entry or will be back for the next round.
Bob Brooks is back for this round, and with the modifications he made to the Yellow Metal Racing bike over the winter and with him running personal best times at the recent Main event, he should be a real contender. The bike seems to have taken on a different level of seriousness, and it wouldn't surprise me if he runs a lot quicker than the 7.4 he ran last weekend.
We are also joined by a newcomer of sorts - Lizz McCarthy, who is normally seen as part of funny bike racer Kev Charmans crew, but she's been putting a bike together over the last year and should be licensed and ready to race in time for the event.

I could really do with the bike getting it's act together this time out, it's a long way to go for such a short event, and the chances are we will only get two qualifying runs which leaves little opportunity to try things, plus there's still been no major breakthrough in finding the reasons for the poor performance at the last round. It might be an idea to stop entering very expensive race meetings and instead go to RWYB events and get a lot more track time for a lot less money.

Rewiring is nearly finished, there are now 2 further relays involved to kill the nitrous during the 4th and 5th gearchange. Initially the idea was to simply remove 12v to the solenoids during the shifts, but instead I've used the 'activate' signal wire and I'll use the hold and wait option on the Schnitz controller. There's also a new back tyre waiting to be fitted and i have some new nitrous parts to put on. Other than that everything is ready to go.
