Seven seven

We made 9 runs in total at the Springspeed Nationals, and that's 2 more than we've managed at any other event since we started racing. It was largely due to the great weather - not a drop of rain all weekend, and no major oil downs or other incidents to delay the running order.

The track requires a different setup to Santa Pod, and we couldn't get the bike to leave the line quite right, but with that being said we ran a string of 7.7's and a 7.6 and qualified second overall (with a 7.72). We particularly struggled with the right lane, the bike went left every time we ran that lane, but would go completely straight in the Left hand lane.
The pairings for racday meant i had Dave Batcheler in the first round. Dave had struggled all weekend with clutch issues, and we took the win with a 7.7 vs Dave's 8.7. Dave however was relieved as the run was his best for some time and meant he had found the issue with his clutch at last.
In the Semi's we had a bye into the final, but i wanted lane choice so i didn't just go and break the beam. It didn't quite work- but was close as it ran a 7.64 vs Allan Davies a 7.60 in his race against Kev Osman. The speed on that run was a PB for us, it ran 171mph at the finish - a decent improvement.

The final against Allan was set to be a good one. He had run a few 7.6's that weekend, and he could react quicker off the line as he used a lockup clutch as opposed to my slider, however the bopchop always 60ft's better and that could make up the difference. As it happens i left first and was ahead till just after half track when he started to come past. He won by about a bike length, and had several mph advantage by the finish. A good race though!
