Have a break

The next race on the ACU calendar - The National Finals at Santa Pod, is just over a week away.
There have been a number of deserters from Competition bike for this race, and for a good reason - they are all aspiring bounty hunters, and fancy a pop at the large prize fund that has been raised for the winner of the Funny Bike class at this event. The fund, which currently stands at £1300 has been put forward by various companies and has certaily secured the class at this event. There haven't been enough entries to run the class recently so this has come not a moment too late.

For anyone who doesn't know what Funny bike is, it's meant to be the equivalent of the funny car class for bikes. In that they are supposed to resemble a particular bike but have been taken to extremes. They must also carry a manufacturers logo and have wheelybars and a slick tyre.
The class is generally considered the next step after comp bike, and the fastest class other than Top fuel bike. Most funnybikes are capable of running well into the 6 second zone.

The mass exodus hasn't left Comp bike short of entries, the lastest entry list shows 8 in comp, and 9 in funny bike.

COMPETITION BIKE
3 Stuart Crane 1640cc
4 Phil Crossley 1500cc
6 Philip Leamon 1290cc
7 Paul Wing 1327cc
8 Sandra Chaplain 1327cc
17 Harold Wolfenden 1299cc
23 Klaus Brinkmann 1500cc
46 Tony Clark 1500cc

FUNNY BIKE (comp bike desertees are in bold)

1 Steve French 1500cc
6 Tim Blakemore 1400cc
14 Bob Brooks 1300cc
15 Mike Chislett 1327cc
16 Nick Daniels 1327cc
17 Dave Peters 1327cc
18 Alan Young 1640cc
19 Thomas Joswig 1327cc
20 Ken Cooper 1100cc

It's not like i wasn't tempted to run the class either, I've no points to speak of in comp bike and the prize fun is significant, but there are a good number of entries in each now and my entry was already in.
I've been having a break from doing stuff on the bike recently, this weekend i didn't venture to the cellar at all. For the first time all year there's no engine rebuild to do, no mad rush trying to put it back together, no urgent improvements to make!
So instead i went looking for a new van.

Next weekend i'll do some checks like valve clearances, put a slightly softer clutch setting in, and replace 2 fuel filters which leaked .... oh and replace the broken toggle switch with a new one.
Otherwise, fingers crossed it ready to go.
