In 2008 the first event of the year at Shakespeare county raceway was called the Springspeed festival, i liked it! This year it's the Springspeed Nationals .... bit normal sounding!
Anyway, the 2nd race of the year is this coming weekend. The weather forecast hasn't even been looked at.... such is the level of confidence in the obviously 'gonna be shining' sun.
Most classes have seen fairly poor numbers of entries, but there are 9 bikes on the entry list for Comp bike. Only differences from the last race are the loss of Richard Gipp due to the accident he had at the Easter thunderball and his detainment in HM Bedford hospital, and Al Young, who for unknown reasons isn't on the entry list. And the addition of Fiona Moor and Bob Brooks. Hopefully Bob will be ready in time as he still has a lot of work to do on the yellow metal machine.
Unfortunately there will be no new wheely bars for the bopchop this weekend. Various circumstances have played a part in their not being made yet-ness. On the positive side i have been tweaking the existing ones and with the aid of a hammer and a digital inclinometer/spirit level I've managed to get them perfectly aligned with the rest of the bike.
Whether it will make the least bit of difference remains to be seen.
The only other changes have been the complete removal of the Innovate LM-1 and it's associated wiring. Plus some additional base pressure on the clutch in the hope that if it does go straight it will return to the 1.3 second or better 60ft times we had when running more pressure last year.
We will be heading down to Stratford upon Avon on Friday afternoon. Qualifying is held on Saturday and Sunday with Eliminations on the Monday. As usual There will be live reports and 60 second stills from the webcam courtesy of Eurodragster.com, followed by end of day galleries. All of which can be viewed here.
