I really didn't want to have to take the engine to bits again, but i have and so far i can't find any damage from the missing cam cap down the camchain tunnel incident. Which is good news .... but....
I have discovered some other problems.
The first thing I've found is that the right hand cylinder is 2 degrees out from the other 3. It seems likely that it's been like that ever since the straight cut gear was put on, as the gear sits between that cylinder and the others, but i'll be taking the crank to a crank expert for a final verdict.
The other thing I've spotted is one of the gears has some damage on it's 'dogs'.It will almost certainly need either regrinding or replacing. It can't have been too bad though as theres been no issues with it jumping gear.
It looks like the expense starts here!
