Team bopchop has been looking forward to the Bonfire night bash at Santa pod, the "Flame and Thunder show" is held on Saturday the 1st of November with a RWYB on the Sunday. There will be 3 or 4 Top fuel cars and 3 Jet Cars, and other classes will also be making demo passes and the live action arena looks busy too. Plus of course there will be a bonfire and firework display in the evening.
The intention originally was to take the bike and run it, but after the recent problems and the fact the engine was in bits and the gearbox away for modification we decided that we would go and watch instead. We even booked a cheap hotel so we could relax and be winter camping wimps.
Monday night however i changed the plan somewhat and put my spare gearbox in the crankcases and started reassembling everything!
I gave the valves a light lapping, cleaned everything up, put new gaskets in and 3 or 4 evenings later - it's an engine again.
Ive not had it running yet but the engines in, plumbed up and ready to go. If the weather is better tomorrow I'll drag it out of the cellar and give it a run. I tried the starter (which now has the new mega chunky leads) and it span it over easily, so maybe the wires have given it a bit of extra kick, and if not there's the new 24v one which won't take much work to be ready for duty.
With any luck then - we won't just be spectators next weekend, I'm on the entry list and have the tickets ready.
I've taken a bit more base pressure out of the clutch too so if the tracks good we can continue trying to get our 60ft times down whilst having some fun racing.
The schedule is for 3 runs on Saturday, Sandra/Roland Chaplain is the only other comp bike entry so i guess we will be paired up to run.
On Sunday we will return to the track to make some more runs on the prepped track in the RWYB.
And when i return I'll start all over again, removing and stripping the engine once more, ready to fit the 1-2-3 auto gearbox when it's ready.
The wasteful bit will be emptying 4 litres of fully synthetic oil after just one weekend!

Delighted to read that you have got it all back together again and even better than it was before.
Very best of luck with your rides - not that you will need it because you have the ability and a cherished machine.
