With 3 events completed so far this year, the next 3 are coming up in quick succession.
In just over a weeks time on August bank holiday weekend theres the Last ACU event for Shakespeare County raceway.
The Open sport nationals is also the last 3 day event of the year. featuring all Bike classes including the NAST Supertwins, and all MSA car classes.
The entry list is very good so far, with 9 entries in Comp bike and we are only on version 2 of the entry list. It could well grow to 12 bikes or so.
One of the entries on the list is Bob Brooks "yellow metal" machine. I've been in contact with Bob as his bike caught my attention. It's a great looking bike that I'll look forward to seeing or even racing against. So long as Bob gets it finished that is, as it's his first event on the bike and there are still a few things to do.
My bike is pretty much ready, a new Mickey Thompson tyre has been fitted, and a few repairs made to things that broke at kirkbride.
If all goes well with the new nitrous system, it'll be the first chance I've had to run with a 70hp shot of nitrous, after the controller packed up at the last event.
I have a few progressive programs saved on the controller that i can try out.
We have always had trouble with the offboard starter motor sticking on. It happens very occasionally. It's not too much hassle unless the bike doesn't turn over for some reason, and then your in trouble as you cant pull it off! Anyway ... I'm pretty sure the reason it sticks is because it's only designed for 12volts and I'm putting 24 through it. I bought a 24volt external solenoid but that stuck on too whilst testing it. So I've made some changes to the way it works instead. Now the solenoid is operated by it's own 12 volt supply, and that switches the 24 volt supply to the motor. It operated with a lot less click than before, but only time will tell if it will work.
The mini bopchop was having problems starting too. I bought a stator plate and windings from the breakers today and thats cured it. A towing point has been added and it's ready to go.
The next event after the Open sport nationals is the Extreme Performance bike weekend at Santa Pod on September 13th and 14th. A bike only event that is also a Straightliners round and a RWYB event.
Two weeks later and we'll be back at the pod for the last ACU event of the year - The National Finals on September 27th and 28th.
I'm still hoping to get some pictures of the racing from the Kirkbride event, so will post them as soon as they are available.
